I've had a series of 2 shots, Thursday I get the last one. I've still had moderate pain and one thing I've noticed for sure is that my shoulder is snapping a lot.
The second opinion appointment, #3 in 10 years, will basically tell the agency the same thing the other 2 did. I have not overcome my disability. Sure if I could find a job where I sat for a while and typed I'd be ok for 2 hours. Then I'd have to get up and ice the shoulder. Yes even after all this time I still maintain a relationship with my ice pack and heating pad.
Unemployment. I'm kind of ticked because he hasn't really done a lot of searching. I admit with one car, 2 kids living at home and working, it gets to be a challenge. But sitting on the couch watching hours of ancient aliens isn't going to kick it with me. And the amount is much less than before. We are hurting. Big time hurting.
I have an appointment at DPSS on Friday to see if we can get some foodstamps. They of course will be cut on the 1st by the party that represents the rich. But if we could get $100 a month, that would help immensely. Sadness if not.
Not much happy stuff today. Wishing I was somewhere peaceful with a Kindle loaded up with books and a chaise with a view of color turning trees surrounding a northern lake.
Peace.

Shut down, shut out, shit on.
Friday my husband came home and told me he was laid off. He hadn't been at this company a year but since the government shut down their work has dried up. Boss couldn't keep 8 guys working. 4 had to go. Last on, first off. He's looking into careers elsewhere.
This puts us in a bind. He's re-upped his unemployment application. I'm applying for food stamps, and I've begged a forbearance on my student loans. I get a non taxable amount every month. I'm going to have to stretch it and get my children to help with the bills. Can we say depressed.
We're only one family out of how many thousands that are affected by this standoff between the ignominious leaders of the Republican party who are doing their damnedest to ruin the middle class. I am so upset that it's affecting me physically.
I need a stress free environment. Ain't gonna happen.
Peace.

Outside my window. . Hot, windy and 85° at
1442.
I am thinking… It’s October for Pete’s sake we need fall!
I am thankful for… a fridge that dispenses ice and cold water.
From the learning rooms … I
sure enjoy going to Bible Study.
I can't believe . . .that the errant spouse is sleeping
From the kitchen . . . leftovers.
I am wearing… tank top, shorts and flipflops.
I am creating . . . a reason to change the channel in the living
room from Alien Adventures.
I am going… to
miss Squeaks more and more. I still feel her around me.
I am reading . . . just finished: “Flight
for Control” by Karen Pettit. Don’t read this while flying!
I am hoping… the spouse will pick up the son.
I am hearing… my weather alert going off.
Around the house. . . . husband and 2 dogs.
One of my favorite things… seeing fall colors for
real and not on TV.
A few plans for the rest of the
week…
1.
Physical
on Monday.
2.
Bible
Study on Matthew on Tuesday/
3.
Work the
new meds into my program.

Fall 2013
It's already 79ยบ outside and I have filled the dogs wading pool with water, taken my meds and am thinking about turning on some tv.
I finally got a new monitor yesterday. Ordered it through NewEgg and am very pleased. It's a wide screen HP and I love it. My son and I had to get another adapter for it since it is hooked up to my Macbook. Now the colors are vibrant and I can actually see what I'm reading.
My brother surprised my mom by bringing his wife along on his trip here for his 40th reunion. That made my mom happy. He doesn't like me and isn't afraid to show it. Someday he will regret it for the sadness he causes Mom but in his little world, I am the square peg for his round holes.
Not much else happening. I think I'll take a shower, fire up the Kindle and read a bit.

I wish I had this view to look at. Imagine how peaceful it is in the fall and then in spring when the vines bud and in late summer when they are full of grapes and ready to be picked and made into a special vintage.
I've been cruising along well pain wise, until last night when I couldn't even find a comfortable position in bed. I took my muscle relaxer and my normal night time meds. It was so bad that I took a Norco.
I've been called for jury duty (just seems like yesterday). Don't have to appear on Monday, so I'll call Monday night. One trial / one day. No pay for the first day. Makes it enticing doesn't it?
Not much else happening. I think I'll take a shower, fire up the Kindle and read a bit.

Sunday Football
It's fall. The Packers are playing and NFL RedZone is keeping me up to date with all the scores.
I saw a sports medicine
doctor and got 4 new prescriptions and we're waiting to get approval from the agency for OrthoVisc injections for my shoulder. They do it for knees all the time but I'm not sure about the efficacy of shoulder use. It's mainly for pain. It's not going to improve my typing or the weariness I get when I spend a lot of time typing.
Just had a wonderful avocado with some pink salt grated on top. Not sure what I'm doing for dinner yet. Tomorrow will be chicken and rice. I will go to the market tomorrow and get the stuff I need.
Fall is here. I'm ready for cool weather and clouds and fires in the fireplace.
Last night was game night. There was a plethora of people in the living room. Someone brought a spicy cinnamon liqueur mixed with whiskey. Those who drank it said it was tasty. Not for me. I'm going to have to invest in some lemon sugar and make my self a lemon drop one of these nights. In the meantime I'm not drinking too much. Don't mix with pain meds.
I have to do my online orientation for jury duty this week. May do it this afternoon and get it over with. Then next Sunday I have to call to see if I show up. We're going to have to do some logistics if I have to go more than 1 day.
Peace to all!

You said what ???? to me?????? A Rant in 3/4 time
Yesterday we decided to do brats and have veges to go with. I started the brats in a covered pan with brown sugar and beer, I like to simmer them and when they go on the grill it's just to brown them. I made baked beans, wrapped corn in foil with sea salt and some butter, chopped summer squash and some red onion, done in a foil pack with olive oil. It was time to light the grill, there was a slight skirmish over that, too much testosterone in one place. I had everything that was prepped ready to go and went back to watch some TV. The eldest child yelled at me for not washing the BBQ tongs. I said you have some nerve. Turned my back and left. This is not a restaurant. I did everything but cook the food and other people can't pitch in? Someday he will have to make do for himself. HE isn't going to be living with me when I'm 65, I will guarantee you that.

Why didn't they name me Grace?
So nosey rosey me went around the corner to see the accident that made a lot of noise. Someone was making a left from across the street and got creamed by an SUV who spun out into a fence. The girl who was hit was driving a late model Cadillac with expired plates and no license with 3 little kids in the back seat. She was scraped along the ride side and lost her side view mirror. The kids were okay. The person who hit her was driving a large SUV, she ended up hitting the fence of a condo on our side of the street. The girl with the kids was pretty devastated.
So onto my story. I was walking back home and got to the sidewalk leading back to our gate and I fell. I just twisted and went down. This is the result of that:

so now my leg hurts, my back hurts and my left hand which I put out to brace myself is aching.
Well every day is supposed to be exciting but not painful.

Movie rec.....
Now you know if you've read me for a while that I don't talk much about going out to movies. I'd rather wait for the DVD most of the time. I have gone when my daughter says Mom you have to see it.
I've heard a lot of good things about "What Maisie Knew". Julianne Moore, Steve Coogan, Alexander Skarsgard (my beloved Eric from True Blood...now you know my celebrity crush-ha) and a marvelous little girl named Onata Aprile. It's a story of divorcing parents who are more intent on hurting each other in a divorce, hurting their new spouses and it's seen through the eyes of a little girl. It's hard to watch, especially if you've been in a relationship/marriage that falls apart and you forget about the collateral damage.
I won't give any more away but if you get a chance watch the movie. You won't regret it.

Been a roller coaster around here
Oh my faithful minions, I wish I could tell you that I boarded an aluminum tube and flew to where tropical breezes blow and fruity drinks abide. But no. There have been a bunch of roadblocks and FOD on my runway of life.
So the mystery pain continues. No ideas as to what is causing it other than perhaps it's a floating appendix and one of these days it will actually do something that will catch someone's attention.
The power steering (electrical) went out on our car. No bueno. Luckily it was covered by a special warranty. Brought me back to the days of drivers training and no power steering on our Plymouth special at North High. So they do the how every many point check on the car and the front and back brakes as well as all 4 rotors and a wheel need to be replaced. So any thought of going anywhere was cancelled by that. I got to drive a mini rental while goldie was in the shop though.
Things started to look a bit better. Then Sunday morning came and the pain peeing arrived. I took the OTC meds that I had and that helped a little. By Tuesday though, I was really sick. I called the husband and said we have to go to urgent care. Went to urgent care and peed in the cup. Blood and elevated white cells. Rx'ed me Cipro and Zofran. They gave me some Cipro before I left the office. I had some coke in the car and sipped on that, while we headed to the pharmacy. Big mistake. I started to get nauseous and for the first time in years, I hung my head out the side of the car and puked. A big thumbs down to the cars who couldn't figure out the lady was sick and honked their horns.
Got home and started on the meds. Feeling better now.
Had the MRI/Arthrogram last week. Got a nice bruise from that. Still waiting on the appointment to go over that. I emailed the office. No answer yet.
The heat has returned. School starts and the thermometer starts to go up. Perfect beach weather with the kids in school. Not that I go to the beach for anything other than eating at my favorite places. I can't tell you the last time I was in the ocean. Sharks are in the ocean.
Well I must end this missive. I'm praying that some monsoon moisture wanders over the coastal plain and we get some much needed rain and some lightning and thunder.
Peace. Clear skies and following winds to all.

Mandated Appointment Cancelled
So I have a mandated appointment to jump through the hoops. The office called and said we've cancelled it because you need an MRI first. That should be fun. More pain coming.
I'll send my caseworker a letter and tell her I'll keep her updated on the forthcoming date.
ARGH.

I like this thought.
The grace of God means something like: Here is your life. You might never have been, but you are because the party wouldn't have been complete without you. Here is the world. Beautiful and terrible things will happen. Don't be afraid. I am with you. Nothing can ever separate us. It's for you I created the universe. I love you. There's only one catch. Like any other gift, the gift of grace can be yours only if you'll reach out and take it. Maybe being able to reach out and take it is a gift too.

5.5 hours in the ER.
Thank God for my Kindle.
8 vials of blood taken.
2 minute CT of abdomen.
Result?
We have no fucking idea. It might be shingles, it might be gas, it might be.......
Take these and call your doctor in the morning.
Still having twinges but not so bad. Taking my meds. Saving the opiods for desperate times.
