Saturday Ipod Musings

Let's see what the Ipod shuffle has up for us today? It's Saturday afternoon, the muscle relaxant is doing it's job, the pain pill I haven't taken yet but I will lay down in a few and take a nice nap.

Have some plans for this evening.
The chupathingy passed it's smog test. Hopefully the boys who are working on it can fix the turn signals by finding the wires. Someone hid the wires good. Needs some little things but it's running. No a/c though. 55MPH a/c only.

Shuffle away:

1. My Back Pages The Traveling Wilbury's
2. Heaven's Bright Shore Alison Krauss & Union Station
3. Hot Rod Lincoln Asleep at the Wheel
4. For All the Saints Trinity College Choir, Cambridge
5. Hard Time Killing Floor Chris Thomas King
6. Virgin Born, We Bow Before Trinity College Choir, Cambridge
7. Sonata, op.2/1 Aria Amarosa Red Priest
8. Funky Town Lipps Inc
9. Eine Kleine Nachmusik'Rondo Academy of St Martin in the Fields
10. The Well Tempered Clavier, Bk 1 Friedrich Gulda

Lots of interesting stuff in the little pink machine.

Not much else to say. I am going to rest my neck and head.

Better living through Chemistry

Yep, back to the doc again today. Neck is so stiff that I can hardly stand it. Have vicodin and flexeril to work with it. She asked me why I didn't have something to work with the Ibuprofen? I said my ortho doesn't like to give me pain pills even if I need them.

So I will sleep well tonight. The Flexeril is doing it's job and I am less in pain. Haven't taken the other yet.

Guarded the escalator last night. Support for the mission you know.

Tonight I can go to bed at a decent hour. And wake up refreshed. I usually get home by 2330 and then I can't get to sleep till nearly 0100. I can read a while but I am so tired I don't sleep well. Last night I coughed and coughed. Go figure.

Got the big dog a used soccer ball to chase around the back yard. Also bought a Chilton's Guide to the Chupathingy. Need wiring diagrams. Joy.

That whole Kabuki thing...

I realize I am biting the hand that feeds me, but you have to wonder how a 2 year old who is being given a full pat down is a threat to you and me? In the meantime I will guard the exit with all the zeal for the mission that I can muster (which isn't a whole hell of a lot).

Errant husband is thrilled with his new job. He's doing a bunch of work at home right now and next week he'll be up there daily. He passed his pee test, passed the safety meeting and got his badge. I am jazzed for him. Plus he can take me to work and I don't have to ride the damn train.

Today is my hump day. I can do this. I can do this. I can do this.

Cheers.

No more sleeping on Mondays

Nope. No. Nada.
I'm going to the gym on Mondays, hopefully will go a few more days, but that will depend on if I have a car or not. But while my mom does her water exercises I do aqua aerobics. I'll pay for the exercise tomorrow but I do feel pretty good today. The pool is warm, the jacuzzi is hot and there are lots of things to do at the gym. So perhaps at almost 54 I am on my way to a better lifestyle. Need to bring my water bottle though. Water dehydrates you awfully fast. And I need to get a different swim suit bottom, without that oh so lovely skirt that keeps flying up. I think a boy short bottom would be best. We shall see.

Back to work tomorrow. More of the same.

Time for lunch and some reading.

Is this the way to ????

This is my every other day office. Isn't it lovely? You don't know if it's daytime or nighttime, what the weather is and whether or not the sky is falling. There are no contingency plans for emergencies down here, if there is an earthquake do we head for the nearest exit, save our own skin, or what? Might be nice to know wouldn't it? I love organizations that are prepared for things. Ficticious alerts to keep people on their toes. That's kind of fun, barring the escalator from all people. As if. Again the appearance of a Kabuki theater.

Damn I am tired. Last night I was in a better outpost but still it gets to be long. Whenever an aircraft pulls in, I mentally contemplate how many people are going to ask me questions and how many are going to confuse the police officer and I for airline employees. Don't laugh. It happens. At one point last night there were no aircraft parked at the gates on the east side of the terminal. Then in short order 5 large people bearing aluminum cans pulled in. There was one extremely large group of high school students heading down the corridor. The noise level was raised quite a bit. I imagine the FA's had a fun time with them.

Last night while I was observing and doing my job, I saw some interesting things. A young man with 2 prosthetic (state of the art) legs and a prosthetic arm. I am wondering if he was the young man profiled on a Discovery special. I saw an actor, known for his performance on a show on Monday nights, who was killed off I believe 2 seasons ago. He pitches insurance now. I saw a young woman who's sense of style was interesting. Black leggings, a white satin slip over them, and over that a shirt. Lots of families, lots of tourists ( spring break is here) and just it seems masses of people being disgorged from those blue tubes.

I saw flight attendants that have been flying since propellors drove the aircraft. They make pilots retire at 60 but there aren't such rules for flight attendants. I guess they love their jobs. And you know they bid for the best routes and best stations on the aircraft. But if they are cheerful and do a good job then bully for them.

So today and tomorrow I rest and recuperate. Tomorrow morning I am going to start with swim aeorbics. Probably a very good thing. And since I have a gym membership maybe I can go more often and use the treadmill and work on my legs and abs. And have some energy to boot.

That's about it for now.

How do you put a spin on negative information?

Okay
So I went to a meeting yesterday and we were presented with some information regarding a survey taken in 2006 regarding job satisfaction and all that. For the most part all the responses ( 551 people out of approximately 2000 took the time to respond) were overwhelming negative. But the powers that be insisted that the positive be pushed. Now if I can read a color chart and the bright red is higher than the bright blue ,I think I can tell that there is great dissatisfaction among the ranks. Me included but that's a different story for a later time.

I couldn't fully participate so I did some online courses to catch up with things I have missed over the last few years. It was okay. They are trying but they aren't where they should be.

Today is my Friday and I will hopefully have some new uniform pieces to bring home and wash and wear. One pair of work pants is not cutting it.

Husband may be working closer to home. That's a good thing but he will be using my car. That means I am back to train and bussing it. I'll have to leave at 115 now instead of 145 to get to work. Joy.

Oh ho Oh Ho it's wondering I go.....

Oh geez. I go back to work tomorrow. I don't care, it gets me out of the house, but honestly, I need the money. Big Time. My mom is pissed at me. What else is new? It's my own damn fault.

Neighbors have a schnauzer. Barks like my mutt. Kind of eerie. I wish they could meet each other.

Made a cassarole tonight. Just winged it. Chicken, noodles, cream of chicken soup, some ortegas for zip, and some corn just for the heck of it. Tasted good. Will be good leftover.

Don't have to pick up the kiddo tonight. She is busy rehearsing. I didn't get to see her perform in this one. Thanks to odd work hours.

Wonder what will happen tomorrow. I sent an email to my HR contact and I told them about the abysmal chairs they have for people to sit in. One that I use has only one arm and pieces of wood falling out. Really good representation of the organization. I have my doubts that much more of this is just Kabuki theater.

Thinking about other things.

Sorta rainy and cold- Happy Spring!

Does our president ever listen to how he speaks? Does he watch tapes of his news conferences? The man sounds like an imbecile. Geez, 2008 will have to be better, but I don't like Hilary and I don't like Obama either. I don'd know who I like? Maybe I'll vote green.

ATC is full of calls about icing and nasty weather in the clouds. The news at noon said there was hail. No real rain here, just misty and cold. Makes the sick kid even sicker. This flu is nothing to play games with. At all.

Nothing exciting going on in my life. The errant husband went back to work. Doc told him to cut back on the tea, too much caffeine. He had some more blood drawn for a liver panel and needs to have a fasting blood test drawn so they can check some other things. He was not happy when he got back from the appointment. I think she was not happy with him blowing off things he needs.

Maybe more later. Maybe not. Depends on how I feel.

So it landed....

Get your flu shot people. I'm just telling you this for your own good. It's a really nasty ass disease and even with anti virals you still feel like the shoe bottom that walked through mud. I am asking for 2 more days to get over this. No way I can work feeling this crappy and spreading it all over LAX.

My bed is my friend. So is my comforter. I am only on here to warn you. Even the dog knows I am sick.

Take care of yourselves.

18 March, 2007

A380 coming to LAX tomorrow!

And it's my day off so I don't have to deal with traffic, parking, or loads of people gawking at the plane. I feel sorry for the people who have to work over on World Way West and trying to get to the offices over there when the thing taxis across their bridge. Gonna be a traffic jam for sure. Pretty big news here in lala land.

I have the flu. Diagnosed and everything. Taking Tami Flu and hoping that it will make me feel better than the bottom of the shoe sole I've been channeling the last 2 days. Came home from work ( sitting at the bottom of an escalator in the basement of a building is so much excitement ya know) Thursday and felt pretty good. Friday morning I had aches and fever and I still am running a clammy one now. Felt so crappy yesterday that I called Urgent Care and went to the doctor. Got a note and faxed it to the office after I called into the call center at work ( have to make 2 calls at least 2 hours before you are scheduled to work to be legal, otherwise you are marked AWOL-- No lie. )

So Bball has been droning on behind me. I watched the end of SW3 and thought what a crock George Lucas had created with those 3 movies. Now I am going to curl up with a mindless romance novel and relax for a while.

Who ever thought this up should do the job first

Okay I've been back for a little over a week. And I sit and observe and answer questions, talk into a crappy walkie talkie and secure areas from unseen foes. But does sitting at the bottom of an exit escalator serve as an important part of the mission? If someone comes up the down staircase and is intent on causing harm will a 5'2" middle aged woman with a walkie talkie be any match? Think about it.

I am wired but will go to bed soon. No other reason but I do need my sleep to keep my energy up to "fight the bad guys". I will give it 3 months and then, decide what to do. I hope and pray that the husband gets a decent job with benefits so I can go elsewhere.

A day off

I hate the time change. I don't feel like I get enough sleep and then it's time to go to bed and I am not tired. Working swing is interesting. I do eat a good lunch before I go to work because sometimes they forget about me, sitting in my chair and guarding the exit. Lots and lots people walk by and they keep me on my toes. I am okay otherwise. Pain is still pain, but I guess it's my lot in life. Got another car for the kid to drive or me or whomever will get it. NEeds work but it can run. Needs front turn signals. Have to be ordered. Someone needs to do that. Kid is scared to drive it till it's street legal. I can use hand signals if I need to. 91 Honda civic dx. Tiny little thing. Till tomorrow. ciao.

The continuing saga of trying to go back to work

Waited another 2 hours in line today to pick up a badge. Why they don't make the process easier is beyong me. But I am now h'official in the eyes of LAWA and the DHS. You go girl.

Working tomorrow and Saturday and then I have Sun/Mon off and then 5 days straight. Oh joy. But hey at least it's money and insurance. Hopefully it is not going to be absolutely boring. It could be but then it could be good too. Look on the bright side.

Waiting on dinner.

I'm better today

I got some sleep after I deposited sundry children at their destinations. We have a car lined up for sundry children but it needs some TLC like turn signals and tires. I am looking forward to sundry child being able to take himself to work and to school. After working swing and coming home late at night and having to get up early, my quality of sleep may be affected. Thank God I have the little black dog to sleep with me and make me comfy.

I told my doctor I would give it 3 months and then see what was going on. I have lots and lots of pain in my shoulder and no one seems to want to deal with that. If I can't handle the pain, with meds, something is going to have to be done. I am alternating, 1 week at a time, 800 mg Ibuprofen and 500 mg Naproxen. And of course taking Zantac to guard the stomach. As well as using Lidoderm patches on the sore places.

My uniform is ready. How stylish it is. I need to steal a pair of sox from my kid or go and buy some tomorrow at Target. I have to call the uniform place and find out how to replace my name badge. Mine broke years ago and it is gone. But to get on the website to order new clothes/uniform pieces I need those 6 little numbers. So we shall see what happens.

Not much else to say. I wish my friend a safe journey across the country with her kids to get her grandkids. I wish her son a recovery from his TBI incurred in Iraq and for him to get the best of care at Walter Reed. I wish this war would end.

Ciao Babies...the wind is a coming up.

All this for a job?

Well I am supposed to start work this week, if I can accurately jump through the hoops that the government and the airport authorities have set in front of me. Get fingerprinted again, they haven't changed since the last time I was printed, nor have I been arrested for, charged with or convicted of any capital crimes.

First like a good little soldier I go to the office where I am supposed to be fingerprinted and an officious young man tells me well you're XXX and you should know that you need a birth certificate or a passport to allow you to be fingerprinted. Wait a minute, says I, I was with an HR person yesterday and they said nothing about that. Call HR, oh the airport is wrong, Go back. Ask for so and so. They will correct it. Okay, back in I trot and I get the oh so valued paperclip. Please go stand outside in the line that wraps it's way around the building and we will get you processed. Now mind you this is just for being printed.

After the prints clear ( I've been printed 10 times in my life for various and sundry jobs in banking and education) I go back to HR and get another valued piece of paper and go back to this same office, see the same person at the desk, and get in the same line as before and then get my badge. Is there something wrong with this scenario? Yes. A. Lot. Nothing like wondering what the government is doing.

So when I finally get back to work, and mind you this is going to be a light duty assignment, I will be working swing and being nice to people. This I can do.

Tonight I am going to watch House and go to bed and get a good nights sleep.

Ciao.

Be vewy vewy carefull. we're hunting ....

Something that makes a lot of noise. Oh hell I don't know what old Elmer is going after. I just thought it was cute.

March is starting to come in like a lion, though not nearly as bad as it is in the South. We've got a nice breeze and the lemon tree that I can see from my window is moving quite nicely. I may have to impose on my kid to jump up on the dog condo and pick some lemons for me.

It's pizza night tonight. We'll get a cheese, olive and tomater for the kid who gave up meat, and a meaty one for the rest of us. I really do like pizza and it's a good meal. Sorry to the others in the world but I do like pizza. The kid works at a place that has pizza for it's main offering as well as tons of kids games. He fixes things. He likes to work with things hands on. And he gets paid so that is good too.

The other kid had a friend over this morning who made curry and made a mess in the kitchen. I do hope that she plans on cleaning it up. I had done the dishes and cleaned up the kitchen and now it's a disaster again. How many pots do you need to make curry????

I faxed in my formal acceptance of the light duty job offer. So that's done. Now I have to go to the main offices on Monday and get reindoctrinated for the job. Good thing I am a cynic. Maybe I'll be lucky and it will take longer than 1 day to get me reindoctrinated, uniformed and badged. I also have to get a parking pass to the employee parking lot. That's not cheap. But it's better than having to take the train and bus to work. I hated that when I was working graveyard. Nothing like being the only person on the train.

I hope my husband gets a job closer to home and will be home at night. After all these years, I rather miss him. I'd feel better if he was home when I came home at midnight from work. I am praying that something will come up. His contract is almost over and I am praying that the company he is working for will offer him a full time job.

I think I am going to go downstairs and read for a while. I need to read.

Ciao.
