Found the wizard, he's just a man

I have spaghetti sauce simmering as I sit here using my son's laptop because my daughter is using mine. Something is not right here. I had to plug in a keyboard and a mouse but at least I can browse.

I found out the results for DWTS and I am truly shocked. Shannen got bumped. As bad as Buzz and Kate were, they kept them on. Shannen was not that bad. I've got the Wiki site bookmarked now.

Only 3 weeks and we are leaving for Vegas. Flying will cut 4 hours off of our trip. It will be worth it in the long run. Only drawback is coming home at 730 in the morning on Sunday. My kid will be inconvenienced. Tough shit. How many times have we done things for him? Baby.

We are supposed to get wind and rain. Oh well. We need it.

Off to see the wizard, the wunnerful wizard of oz......

Yeah, I wish. Right now I just wish I could get the dishes done, smack the oldest for being an asshat, and get the next one to clean her room and open her windows to air it out.

Just having one of those day. Walk on by, these aren't the droids you're looking for.

Later. Just later.

It's planting time in HHR

'Tis time to start the plants again.
The lemon tree has provided fruit all winter and now it's down to 6 fruit. But there are lots and lots of new blossoms on it. We'll see fruit about the same time that the tomatos and peppers are ready to bear fruit. We have a grape and a big girl tomato hanging as well as an orange bell, jalapenos and poblano chile's in the red planter.

The jasmine was here already and is blossoming like mad. It smells so good at night. It makes having 4 ugly dirty palm trees planted in the planter worthwhile. When the kids and I were at Home Depot the other day they had pre planted palms for 19.99. No thanks.

This house has 14 pine trees planted on the property. 6 of which are in the front, 2 in the front planter, 2 next to the garage and 2 on the boulevard. Besides the palm trees there is a wind break of bamboo which is thriving thanks to all the rain we had. It blocks the view over the fence from the street behind us. So it's putting something back into the atmosphere.

I threw a package of wild flowers that I got at my stepdad's funeral into the front planter. I've never had luck growing anything there so we shall see what happens. I put some water over the dirt after I stirred up the soil.

And by the way:

Bad dreams....

Last night I had a 2 part dream.

The first dream I was at a mall with some people and we were going to be shopping and house hunting. We were hindered by a huge number of tweens that had totally plastered the mall, shops, parking lot, cars and whatever with scrunched up paper balls. Purses were filled, it was odd.

The next dream was that I was being taken to a room on the 7th floor of a building I am familiar with. There are crazy acting people everywhere, and the person that was talking to me, had white hair falling down around his face with a black cloche on his head. He kept insisting I wasn't in pain, that the surgeries were faked and I could throw a baseball 99 mph. (ha). He kept it up and finally I said, read the doctor's report and leave me along.

Then the phone rang and it was my daughter asking me to open the garage. Her bike tires were a major fail.

I don't know about the first, but the second is my subconscious telling me that I'm nuts. Like I didn't know.

Made the reservations for the long awaited gold show in LAS. Flying out at the crack of dawn on a Friday and flying home at the crack of dawn on a Sunday. Basically though we get 2 full days there and we can drive over to AZ and see the new bridge being built over the Colorado. Drive around Lake Mead and see the fish hatcheries. And then back to the city. The Gold Show is Saturday, but that won't take all day. There are so many things to see, the Bellagio Art, The M&M store, just the glitz and glamor.

Not much else to say or do. Swiss Steak in the crock pot and inane TV on cable.

Sunny with a chance of wind

Chance of wind is putting it lightly. The 50 foot palm tree across the street is blowing and shedding it's branches. Our pine trees are devoid of dead needles. The tarp over the spa has been cut down and thrown out. In a couple of months we'll refill and re do that area. Dog and I went out front but the wind was just too cold. It's 59˚ but feels a lot colder. The weather reports say we will be moving into the 70's next week. I had the front door open (screen shut) and the French Doors open so the breeze could blow through this morning when it was warmer. Just not now.

I am so tired of getting automated computers talking to me. Ugh. Cost cutting measures.

I was going to make swiss steak for dinner, but forgot to get some stuff. So I'll head out to the store tonight and pick the stuff up. I'll start it on the stove (browning the meat) and then put the rice, tomatoes and vegetables in the crock pot and let them cook all day. Since everyone comes home at different times, they can eat when they are ready. It's not like 50 years ago when I was little, you ate breakfast at 730 and watched Captain Kangaroo, lunch was when the mill whistle blew at noon, and dinner was on the table at 5PM when Daddy drove in the driveway. As I got older and families changed, dinner time became much more flexible. When I was in Europe, it wasn't unusual to be eating dinner at 10PM.

Taxes loom on the horizon. 2 EZ's and then the big one. But it shouldn't be that hard to do. Thank God for the online help. No biggies for this one. When we owned a house we had our taxes done, but since we're renters it's a lot easier to do them.

Not a good day

I am just having a crappy day. Not by any outward signs but my brain is churning and I guess it's one of the ways that I process grief. I am angry with my son, he makes choices that I think he needs to think over. As long as he lives here (even though he doesn't live in the house) he has to follow rules. I put up with a lot of crap and I don't need him making me repeat myself.

I wish we had a tub. When this house was remodeled the owner took out the tub and put in a large shower. The only time I get to take a nice luxurious bath is if I go out of town and stay in a hotel. Sad but true.

Oh well. Nearly time to drive down to the airport and get the kid. Joy.

Remembering and Recovering.

This little peach grew up to be an all around girl. She loves psychology and anthropology and may be going on a cruise through the panama canal to study anthropological and historic places in Central American History.

I really am proud of her. She loves to go out and have a good time and after her milestone birthday I am taking her to Las Vegas to celebrate. Where else can she drink for free?

She loves children and they love her. She's a Disney addict. Knows a lot of nooks and crannies to visit. Rain or shine she'll go to the Magic Kingdom.

She's my baby. I am proud of her. She always thinks she was the ginger child but she's not. Because her brother had health issues we were not as attentive when she was little, but I am working hard at making that a thing of the past. Now if she'd only be brave and get her drivers license. It would make a bit easier.

Watched my first Dodger game of the year in pre-season. They were playing the White Sox. Looked like a nice stadium.

Rain is off and on and the wind is coming from the south east. So the pattern is reversed and the airplanes are landing from the ocean. Strange to see a big old 4 engine 346 flying the reverse pattern over the house. And then the local police copter was doing circles right over our neighborhood. The pilot had her tipped and I waved. I always wave at them. They have a hard job.

The dog got a bath today. He's so nice and fluffy. He looks so good and smells good when he gets a bath. All that dirt that comes flying off of him. He has finally settled down and is lying down now.

Well I can't think of anything more profound to say. The meat loaf was good, I'd like chicken and rice tonight, depends on what the old man thinks. No Yoshida sauce but there is some Trader Joe Teriyaki in the fridge. I think there are some stir fry veges still in the freezer. As long as he doesn't put any cayenne in them like he did last time.

Time to go.

Frosted Frakes

I am wondering what to have for dinner. I saw a box of cereal when I was in the kitchen. The lovely daughter wanted them. So dinner tonight is cereal.

We're watching the season finale of Burn Notice. We can zip through the commercials since it was DVR'ed. I sure do like the DVR. It's made life so much easier. Tonight the Kitchen Nightmare episode is local.

Been a long day with all the heavy equipment on the main street behind the tract being repaved. Damn it was loud. And the street at the end of the block is all blocked off. Ah construction. Sounded like jet engines at high pitch.

The blog that made me so mad, is most likely gone but the blogger isn't. She went back to a previous blog and said that she begged her husband to let her quit. I call bullshit on that. And she's got all these little chickens who slather her with praise and how horrible the people were who called her out on her lies. Sad. But. True. Can't wait to see the next update on how the lint was carded into a blanket and read about how all women who work while their children are young are deluded by Satan. Like the doctors and nurses at the children's hospital who saved her son's life. The female of the species isn't supposed to be educated and should be at home birthing babies and feeding them paper mache noodles, home made kefir water and cheese pressed on the floor through an old dress swatch and weighted by books. Yeah, I know appetizing.

Oh hell, it's not worth the effort. But I rejoice that I go to a sensible church.

Peace and out.
