Outside my window… 72, overcast and humid

I am thinking…  tomorrow morning it’s the nail salon

I am thankful for…  ceiling fans and windows

From the learning rooms …  I have 3 more days of this DOL mandated class. How the time has flown.

I can't believe .. . all the doctor’s appts I’ve got coming up

From the kitchen . . . We had ribs and mac n cheese tonight

I am wearing…  jeans and a nice shirt.

I am creating . . . trying to get to like the new HP script/book.

I am going. . .  to work on my resume tomorrow

I am reading. . . whatever strikes my fancy

I am hoping…  that the kids' check comes in and he’ll pay his half of the insurance

I am hearing…  Riddick for the umpteenth time

Around the house… 2 dogs, husband

One of my favorite things… new shoes

A few plans for the rest of the week…
1.  Finish this class
2.  Teach on Friday
3.  Have a quiet weekend.

Here is a picture for thought I am sharing:

Stress Related Illnesses. TMI if you want

My gut and I have an agreement. As long as everything is hunky dory, and going well, it will behave. If I have the least amount of stress, it will go wild and I will spend an aggregate of 2 or more hours in the bathroom. Not to mention my bladder and its mind of its own.

I thought this would be a nice quiet Saturday. The mail came and my son got some mail, and it wasn't quite what he expected. He exploded. Then his father, who was on his ass watching Ancient Aliens, got into it, and I asked them both to settle down. The husband then says to me, go pray to your sky fairy, you know there isn't anyone up there to listen to you here or there. Steam is coming out of my ears.

I go outside and start moving dirt out of a large empty planter that is out there. I'm going to put my poor little Meyer Lemon in it. Well, the bottom of the huge planter is cracked and there are roots from the tree coming through. I try to crack them and that's not good for my shoulder,I sit down and wait a bit and start again. Finally, the husband comes out and says let me try. (he's trying to be nice... he's already on the shit list for not telling work when he wanted to take his vacation and someone else got it, and I had to cancel it).

So he digs down further and grabs the roots and cuts them off. Adds more planting mix and cuts the plastic container the lemon tree has been in for several years; puts it in and pours the rest of the potting soil around it. I lost 2 little lemons, but there are 5 more on the plant + blossoms. Maybe this year they will grow and we'll have decent lemons. This is what I hope it will look like someday:

Right now it's not that great.

In other things, I cancelled class Friday night because of aforementioned physical problems. I'll be hunting bear next week. I also talked to the president of the college about grading and he said because it's general ed and not really an academic school be gentle. So they'll get C- and above. No D's. Too bad.

One more week of school for me. It's career week, do resumes, practice interviews, the whole 9 yards. And Thursday one last typing test and I graduate. Whoopee. No big party for me. Not enough people, and if they do, it'll be chicken and pizza. I'd rather have an antipasto salad from Guiliano's than that. I am not involved in that.

Peace out.

Why I am voting for Hilary

I am voting for Hilary because Donald Trump is a dangerous man. He despises women. Hilary is pro-choice, so am I, because what I see of pro-life is as long as the baby is in the womb, it’s fine and dandy, but when the baby is born, where is the support for the mother, who’s going to help her with necessities and who is going to look after their health? Not Trump.

He is a lying liar that lies, has children by 3 different women, 2 of whom he was cheating on his then wife with.

Donald Trump once said that the danger he faced from getting sexually transmitted diseases was his own “personal Vietnam.”

In a 1997 interview with shock jock Howard Stern, Trump talked about how he had been “lucky” not to have contracted diseases when he was sleeping around.

“I’ve been so lucky in terms of that whole world. It is a dangerous world out there. It’s scary, like Vietnam. Sort of like the Vietnam-era,” Trump said in a video that resurfaced Tuesday on Buzzfeed, “It is my personal Vietnam. I feel like a great and very brave soldier.” That makes me sick.

He has stiffed countless small businesses to the point where they became bankrupt. He did not pay for plumbers, electricians, builders, waiters, his own lawyers, etc .saying they did not perform to expectations. All of them?! He offered them a percentage of the agreed upon price and if they didn't take it, he'd tie them up in court. There are enough cases and documentation to prove this fact.

He has said women should be punished if they had an abortion, but doesn't think men should be responsible for their part in getting the woman pregnant.

He has said that he would not honor treaties with other countries.

He has said that he would encourage other countries to have nuclear weapons.

He has said he would kill family members of terrorists.

He has criticised whole races of people.

He says he will make Mexico pay for a wall.

He has made fun of war heroes and disabled reporters.

Just lately he critiqued a fire marshal for doing his job saying the guy was a Hillary supporter.

He said he wouldn't pay a hotel bill because the room was too hot at a rally.

He has no plans and says dangerous things before he stops to think.

HE insulted the father of the Muslim soldier who spoke at the DNC.

He lied about getting a letter from the NFL regarding the debate scheduling.

He leaked classified information that he was briefed on. Can we trust this man?

He has no interest in learning new information from people who are supposed professionals in the field, like generals.

I could go on and on. And before you tell me all the things Hillary has done, don't bother. This isn't about her winning the election. This is about the danger of this man.

Please, find another champion who is not dangerous and is competent. This man is an embarrassment and incompetent and most of all dangerous.

Hilary has her faults, but she has worked tirelessly for the American people. She has been castigated over her emails, George W Bush’s administration lost 75,000 and no one batted an eye.

We’ve had 8 years of obstructionism from the GOP because they hated our president. Let’s not let the GOP speak for us anymore, let’s elect a president, senate, and representatives that are for AMERICA and not their own interests and are not bought off by the NRA!!!!!!

I admit it, I am a mean teacher

So I teach a class on Friday nights. It's a general education class called Communication. Technically it's a sociology class because the book is geared to that and not a follow up to the English class I just taught. I was very disappointed in that, the book was geared to a much higher level student than what I was presented with.

So with this class, it's 2 weeks shorter and a bigger book, with a lot more to go over. 2 students called out Friday night and that messed up with the plans I had for the class.  I asked the 2 that were there if they had read the chapters and they said no. Wednesday night they are getting emails reminding them that they need to read the chapters assigned for this week, and do the tests that were put out. Also, a mid-term will be given the 4th week of class, a take home test, so they can be ready for that. The 7th week of class they will have a take home final due the last night of class. I grade on what I have, and then, according to the guy who owns the college, no matter what, no one gets lower than a C. To those who earn better grades, that's great but to those who don't it's a disservice. It's also a disservice to the ones who are getting an AA that means nothing in the real world. They can't transfer credits to a 4-year college.

I have good news. But I will save that for later in the week. Right now, I have to fire up my laptop and record scores.

oh yeah, I made 2 web pages that bounced back to each other. so jazzed....not.

Daycare, Preschool, and Bloggers who don't research

There's a blogger that I follow, and she wrote a long post on how it's imperative that women stay home and raise their children or else they will develop detachment disorder. I cherished the 4 hours a week my oldest went to preschool. It gave me time to spend alone with my youngest, and often we'd go and see Grandma.

Mother's need a time out. I only had 2 children and both of them were in preschool/daycare at times in their lives. They're healthy and don't have any psychological problems from being away from me. I had to put my daughter into daycare because I had to go back to work so we had some extra money in the household. It wasn't cheap and private Christian school was expensive too. No way we could afford it on one income.

And I had a lot of fun going back to work. Interacting with adults was amazing. Soon after we could afford to move to the town my husband was working in, the kids were able to go to school with their dad and I could go to work. We stayed there for 8 years, in 2 houses.

So, I take most of what she says with a huge grain of salt. As a graduate of evil public schools and a university, I am the antithesis of what she proposes. I don't wear sleeved blouses unless I have to. I don't wear tea length dresses every day. I wear shorts and tee shirts during warm weather. I'm just a liberal Democrat who's going to help Hilary get elected.

Oh well, I'm done with this fiddle-faddle. I'm tired tonight, the particulate matter in the air has irritated my throat, and I am ready to go to bed.

Peace.

Heat, humidity, and smoke

The Sand fire has made our air nasty. Here's a picture from last night at about 1730:

We live 4 miles from the beach as the crow flies. The fire is 60 miles to the north. Right now the town my step-brother lives near is under evacuation orders. He said he's about 5 miles north of the current evacuation but if the wind changes, that may change too.

My new class started and I have 4 students. Not too bad. The information page that I have access through from the publisher is wonderful. I get power points for the chapters, and I get tests that are pre-made. All I do is download them, save them in Word since they have the answers already. Then do a Save As function and erase all the answers. It will be a good measure since I don't want to let them slide like English.

The heat makes me really tired and cranky. At least the classroom tomorrow will be a/c.

Peace and out.

I'mmmmmmmmmm Shrinking..............

I've dropped from 5'3 to 5'1. No wonder my old pants drag on the ground. I love my new ones that I can wear comfy shoes with. I have also lost 8 lbs in 2 months.

Am through the MS Word and QuickBooks part of the course. Now we have to learn customer service. Christ in Heaven, I can do that in my sleep. Did it at Ohrbachs, Security Pacific Bank, Cado/Contel Cado, Barham Customs Brokers, even TSA in the Lost and Found dept. I know how to be decent to people on the phone while answering questions and rolling my eyes.

Still having terrific problems with my cervical vertebrae and the rheumatologist doesn't think I need pain management. I had a shot in my left thumb which basically made my whole left hand go numb and I still can't type with my left thumb. I'm going to ask my doctor to refer me. When the days come where it hurts so bad I can't hold my head up. Maybe they'll listen to me.  Sooner than later. I've got some numbers of DOL listed medical groups so tomorrow morning I will call them and see if someone will accept me as a patient.

After this class is over the DOL expects me to apply for 20 full-time jobs a week. And if I don't succeed by 3 months, they will start cutting my compensation. Sounds fair?? NOT!

So if I get a new doctor that says that clerical work and sitting at a desk 8 hours a week at 63 is not compatible with my arthritic shoulder and arms. Maybe I can get my neck accepted as a new claim.

This week an ergonomic specialist is coming to the school to see the setup and see if there is something they can suggest to make it easier on me. You fucking have to kid me. I'm gone out of there on August 11. August 15th and 22nd I start my round of specialists since I have a serious problem with incontinence. (TMI sorry but it's a real situation).

The 28th we are taking the car to Laughlin for a couple of days. We'll go to the grand canyon one day since it's much closer than leaving from Vegas.  Then it will be back to life as normal as we know it.

Peace and out Amulbunny

28 June, 2016

They say it's your birthday......it's my birthday too, yeah!

Another year to conquer ahead.

Seeing my daughter after 6 months away.

Food would be nice.

Still dealing with the DOL now because the classes have aggravated my bulging discs which were fairly benign until I started school.

Can I say I am sad?

Can I say I hurt all the time?

Peace

15 June, 2016

Ah where do we start?

Orlando made me cry. The needless slaughter of people just having fun.

We are becoming immune. We have a presidential candidate who shouts like a 3rd grader and has the vocabulary of one too. It's big, It's bigger than anything you can imagine. No, it's your imagination, Donald. You are not qualified.

A family vacation ruined because someone didn't watch a toddler and there was a hungry gator at a Disney World lake.

Torrential rains. (We could use some of that moisture there).

Now onto the good news.

The Chevy has gone to its rest. We are driving a 2017 Kia Sportage and I am burning to take it on a road trip. That will have to wait till I get a weekend off from my teaching gig.

I am still in the MOS class. Having problems with my cervical vertebrae and that's causing problems with my shoulder. Got a foot rest to put under my table.

The social butterfly is coming home for 10 days. She'll be running a 5k on the 4th. YEAH!

Bah humbug

I am still here.

I am in the 3rd module of the class. By doing the hour of typing every day of class, I have managed to aggravate the shoulder and the muscles of my back. I missed 3 days with pain so bad I could not manage around the house. I did make it up to the college on Friday to do my internship i.e. free English teacher.

I am so out of it that I wonder how I am going to get through this. Tomorrow I will spend all afternoon doing homework. I have a test on Monday.

The wind is blowing, the choppers are flying and the dogs have taken over my bed. The choppers are making announcements in Spanish. I'm staying inside and I'll watch some Outlander. Maybe, maybe not.

When I can sit and think about it, I'll write again. Probably sooner than later.

The bunny who's back is really bothering her and making her walk like a Weeblo.

Weather makes me shabby

The wind makes me nuts. It must be the atoms being stirred around and it affects me.
I've been pretty down all week and tomorrow I have a lot of education related things to do.
This is the last day of school this week. Thank God.

Peace.

25 April, 2016

Life is still going on.

When I'm a little less stressed I'll write about what's been going on and how I STILL HATE THE DOL WITH A WHITE BURNING PASSION.

Whoo Hoo One Module Done

Well, it looks like I can use MS Word now without too much hassle.

There was a problem in class and I addressed it to the DOL, and to the site manager. It was really distracting to me and disrespectful to  the teacher. I enjoyed the class but this other woman (USPS) made it so stressful for me with her rudeness and disrespect. Quite the kerfuffle but I was kept out of it.

I met with the president of the college and we shall see.

She has only 2 more modules, I have 5. 2 more months of the mouth may do me in.

29 February, 2016

1 day down, 95 to go

So I'm going to this tech school 4 days a week for about 5 hours a session. Today was my first day.

How to turn on a computer. I kid you not.

See the blue icon that says WORD. (and don't forget the 5lb textbook with all of the MS2010 programs to learn). See the blank document???? Yeah, that's about it.

You didn't answer my question first, I had my hand up before she did!  I kid you not.

All of the other students in the class are USPS (post office) employees on workers comp who really don't want to be there. One guy told me as soon as his doctors tell him his knee is ready, he's going to back to work. So the blessed DOL is also funding these people. Who've been hauling mail > more than 20 years and have no interest in office management. All they want to do is get back to their post office and work there and have their union fight for them.

Since this is module learning, some of them have had Access and Outlook and Excel, others have no experience with a computer at all. Gonna be a long summer as people rotate in and out of the program. For this, the DOL is paying 7500$ in addition to whatever they are paying the career counselors, and for me, I'll be 63 when this farce is over. Out there getting 20 job applications a day 20 hours a week trying to find a position against people 30 years younger than I am.

I think it's time to get an attorney and file for SS disability retirement. Gotta be better than this.

outta here.

Outside my window… 61, clear and cooling

I am thinking…  I need to get my nails done.

I am thankful for…  ceiling fans

From the learning rooms …  Monday I start 6 months of school. 4 days a week, 5 hours a day.

I can't believe. . . February is nearly over

From the kitchen . . . Waiting on some Amazon orders

I am wearing…  jammers

I am creating . . .drinking my mandarin orange water

I am going…     to go shopping with my mom tomorrow.

I am reading. . . Stars of Fortune, Book 1 of the Guardian Trilogy by Nora Roberts

I am hoping…  that someday all the rats will find new homes.

I am hearing…  ancient aliens in the living room

Around the house… 2 dogs, husband and son

One of my favorite things… clean jammers

A few plans for the rest of the week…
1.  Church on Sunday
2.  School on Monday
3.  Hoping that I can prep some slow cooker meals.

Here is a picture for thought I am sharing:

Dog knows that Outlander is coming in April.

The next 6 months

First off the finale for the X-Files was depressing and way too many ends left dangling, like some of my sentences.

I start school the 29th of Feb. I will be going for 6 months, 4 hours a day 4 days a week and learn office management. The Department of Labor has determined that I am capable of working once I finish relearning all the stuff that I have forgotten, i.e. typing, printing from a computer, graphics, and all those things.

Amazing that I can write a blog and do those things. But I will admit that I suck at excel, it's been since 1998 and things have changed. Outlook, I never used, have no idea what Access is, and of course, our blessed Quicken.

Then I get to learn how to send faxes, use printers, adding machines and all kinds of other office machines. The reason I have arthritis is that I used my right hand to run an adding machine for 20 years.

I'll keep up a running commentary on the wisdom of the DOL/OWCP in putting a 63-year-old woman back in the workforce. Especially one who's injury is on her dominant side, repetitive motion anyone?

Angio was ok

Angio was ok so doctors are stumped. I was a wibbly wobbly gal when I got home. Fentanyl, Versed and morphine tend to do that.  Am still having some dull pain from the incision. Changed the bandage last night.

Life goes on.

24 January, 2016

Medical Update

So the little cough that could, the heaviness in my sternum area, fatigue and my shortness of breath did add up to something according to my cardiologist.

(Right now I'm waiting on the X-Files)

So the first week of February I am going to have an angiogram which will probably turn into an angioplasty. I have to be there at 0600 and I have no idea when I will go home. Could be 4 or 8 hours or I may get to stay the night. Depends on what goes on and how long it takes. I am very nervous about this and am pretty worried.

So I will update after the procedure as soon as I feel up to it.

Peace,

the bunny

Never Fear

I'm still here.

Mulling my future and wondering if I'll ever understand the thinking of the Department of Labor.

Shill MD's who make $1000 saying things they never examined you for. DOL wanting to clear their books. Sending me back to work somewhere and expecting me through the counseling service to apply for jobs at 10$ an hour. The minimum wage? At my age? SMH.

Rain and thunder and lightning. Cold and damp. Scared dogs.

Peace.
