Outside my window. . Sunny, breezy and 73ยบ at 1458.

I am thinking…  This Colace is not doing its thing.

I am thankful for…  getting over the worst UTI I’ve ever had.

From the learning rooms … puking out the side door of a car is not for sissies.

I can't believe . . .my kiddo and I are having a fight via IM’s.

From the kitchen . . . Tonight it’s going to be going out.

I am wearing…  shorts, a Clark Security Tee Shirt and bare feet.

I am creating . . . Something somewhere

I am going…   pray hard that one of these days the money tree will bud and sprout. I’m tired of being broke.

I am reading . . . The Poisoned Pilgrim by Oliver Potzsch. Medieval Germany mysteries!

I am hoping…  With the heat and humidity predicted we get a rolling thunder and lightning storm.

I am hearing…  The palm trees blowing in the wind.

Around the house. . . . 1 cat, 2 dogs outside, English court music on Pandora.

One of my favorite things… A good book and a glass of wine.

A few plans for the rest of the week…
1.   Steak kabobs for dinner tomorrow
2.   Hit the farmers market
3.   Walk around the block with the dog.

Why didn't they name me Grace?

So nosey rosey me went around the corner to see the accident that made a lot of noise. Someone was making a left from across the street and got creamed by an SUV who spun out into a fence. The girl who was hit was driving a late model Cadillac with expired plates and no license with 3 little kids in the back seat. She was scraped along the ride side and lost her side view mirror. The kids were okay. The person who hit her was driving a large SUV, she ended up hitting the fence of a condo on our side of the street. The girl with the kids was pretty devastated.

So onto my story. I was walking back home and got to the sidewalk leading back to our gate and I fell. I just twisted and went down. This is the result of that:

so now my leg hurts, my back hurts and my left hand which I put out to brace myself is aching.

Well every day is supposed to be exciting but not painful.

Movie rec.....

Now you know if you've read me for a while that I don't talk much about going out to movies. I'd rather wait for the DVD most of the time. I have gone when my daughter says Mom you have to see it.

I've heard a lot of good things about "What Maisie Knew". Julianne Moore, Steve Coogan, Alexander Skarsgard (my beloved Eric from True Blood...now you know my celebrity crush-ha) and a marvelous little girl named Onata Aprile. It's a story of divorcing parents who are more intent on hurting each other in a divorce, hurting their new spouses and it's seen through the eyes of a little girl. It's hard to watch, especially if you've been in a relationship/marriage that falls apart and you forget about the collateral damage.

I won't give any more away but if you get a chance watch the movie. You won't regret it.

Been a roller coaster around here

Oh my faithful minions, I wish I could tell you that I boarded an aluminum tube and flew to where tropical breezes blow and fruity drinks abide. But no. There have been a bunch of roadblocks and FOD on my runway of life.

So the mystery pain continues. No ideas as to what is causing it other than perhaps it's a floating appendix and one of these days it will actually do something that will catch someone's attention.

The power steering (electrical) went out on our car. No bueno. Luckily it was covered by a special warranty. Brought me back to the days of drivers training and no power steering on our Plymouth special at North High. So they do the how every many point check on the car and the front and back brakes as well as all 4 rotors and a wheel need to be replaced. So any thought of going anywhere was cancelled by that. I got to drive a mini rental while goldie was in the shop though.

Things started to look a bit better. Then Sunday morning came and the pain peeing arrived. I took the OTC meds that I had and that helped a little. By Tuesday though, I was really sick. I called the husband and said we have to go to urgent care. Went to urgent care and peed in the cup. Blood and elevated white cells. Rx'ed me Cipro and Zofran. They gave me some Cipro before I left the office. I had some coke in the car and sipped on that, while we headed to the pharmacy. Big mistake. I started to get nauseous and for the first time in years, I hung my head out the side of the car and puked. A big thumbs down to the cars who couldn't figure out the lady was sick and honked their horns.

Got home and started on the meds. Feeling better now.

Had the MRI/Arthrogram last week. Got a nice bruise from that. Still waiting on the appointment to go over that. I emailed the office. No answer yet.

The heat has returned. School starts and the thermometer starts to go up. Perfect beach weather with the kids in school. Not that I go to the beach for anything other than eating at my favorite places. I can't tell you the last time I was in the ocean. Sharks are in the ocean.

Well I must end this missive. I'm praying that some monsoon moisture wanders over the coastal plain and we get some much needed rain and some lightning and thunder.

Peace. Clear skies and following winds to all.

Mandated Appointment Cancelled

So I have a mandated appointment to jump through the hoops. The office called and said we've cancelled it because you need an MRI first. That should be fun. More pain coming.

I'll send my caseworker a letter and tell her I'll keep her updated on the forthcoming date.

ARGH.

I like this thought.

The grace of God means something like: Here is your life. You might never have been, but you are because the party wouldn't have been complete without you. Here is the world. Beautiful and terrible things will happen. Don't be afraid. I am with you. Nothing can ever separate us. It's for you I created the universe. I love you. There's only one catch. Like any other gift, the gift of grace can be yours only if you'll reach out and take it. Maybe being able to reach out and take it is a gift too.

Update on last post

5.5 hours in the ER.
Thank God for my Kindle.
8 vials of blood taken.
2 minute CT of abdomen.

Result?

We have no fucking idea. It might be shingles, it might be gas, it might be.......

Take these and call your doctor in the morning.

Still having twinges but not so bad. Taking my meds. Saving the opiods for desperate times.

Waiting on the weekend.

09 July, 2013

Oweeeeeeee

I am having intermittent sharp pains in the lower right quadrant of my abdomen. As long as I don't make a sudden move I'm ok. Right now it seems to have calmed down but I don't know. If it continues I will have the errant spouse take me to the urgent care clinic down the road and be seen. No reason to go to ER if I don't have to. They are nasty little stabbing pains. Might be an ovary that is twisted. Who knows. Might be my appendix. Right now I am ignoring the pain.

Will keep up the news.

A Rescued Dog

We drove to Bonsall CA yesterday to visit the Southern CA GSP rescue and to meet a dog. The drive down was good, traffic was decent (unlike the return where we had vapor locks on our motorhome and had to stop several times) and as we went east from the ocean we wound our way around lots of new vineyards, tomato farms and other vegetable farms. Driving up the road to the rescue we saw many horses estates including several for sale. I am deathly afraid of horses up close so we know that would never happen. If I won the lottery, I'd buy a house in Hermosa Beach. Hands down....oh I got off the track didn't I?

We saw the sign and drove down the steep driveway and found a place to park. We had Duffy with us to introduce him to the potential puppy. We met her and she needs some training but she is a lover. When more dogs came she was sort of interested but she preferred a place near my husband. There was a young GSP with a healing staph infection and he was enthralled with Duffy. He stood by the fence and just acted like Pepe le Pew towards Duffy. His new foster mom has small dogs so the volunteer coordinator asked me if I'd allow the to bring Buddy out to meet Duffy. He's going to do well.

So we left the check, filled out the papers and am the proud owner of ms Poppy.

Someone escaped her kennel and found daddy.

More tales of the new girl to follow.

Sun Country Airlines, give credit where it's due

My mom is 88 and is not feeble, but she's not steady on her feet. She was going to go see my brother and his family in MN and we were trying to find her a decent fare and flight. I told my sister in law to ask the travel agent to check on Sun Country. They only have 1 flight in/out of LAX a day.

We got the reservations and when I went to do the online check in I found you have to pay $15 for an aisle seat to get it online or pray when you get to the airport. They also charge $20 for your first bag. I did notice that they give you the option to upgrade when you do your online check in. We didn't do that.

The day of travel she was in a lot of pain as she has back problems. I asked her if she wanted to upgrade, she'd have a nicer seat, be closer to the bathroom and it would be more comfortable. She said yes. So I go up to the first class line (all alone) and say we want to upgrade. No problem, what seat would you like? 2C. OK. We will refund the fees you've already paid and this is $119. I got a gate pass as well. We also got a wheelchair and headed to security.

At TSA we jumped the line and I got to use the walk through. Mom got a female assist I got the walker and we were done in less than 5 minutes. It was probably one of the easiest transits through security that I've had since I worked for them. We got to the gate and the young man said someone would be back at boarding time.

Boarding time came and the young man was back, Mom went through the jetway got settled into her seat and I left. She said they could not have been nicer to her on the flight to MSP. My brother picked her up at the Humphrey terminal and she had a great vacation there.

On the way home she upgraded again and had a wonderful flight. She told me the other day that when she flies again to MSP to see them, she will fly SY and first class. Why be uncomfortable and jammed in when she can be comfortable.

I've read good and bad reviews of SY and this was a good one. The flight attendants could not have been more attentive and the service was good.

Gardening goes on......

This is the little rose plant that I got for Mothers Day at the 99¢ Store. It's 3 separate plants
and 2 have blossoms waiting to open.

This is the nearly dead herb garden I got at the same store. It's got basil, rosemary, thyme, mint and sage in it. Growing like mad.

This is the first tomato of many I hope. There's another teeny tiny one on another stem next to it.

This is my topsy turvy planter hanging off the wall between the houses. It's really going to town.

The Queen of the Back yard.

This is a large plant that has 2 stakes holding it up. It blew over in a wind storm and though it didn't break off, it's got a wound. I had to make do and use a crowbar. I will get some wooden dowels and stake it properly. There's also a small plant that I took with roots attached from the topsy turvy and it seems to be alive.

These are cell phone photos and seem squished. Sorry!

27 days till the next decade

Isn't if funny when you are little and someone says Oh, 30 is so old. Well honey, 30 was not a good birthday, 40 was fun, 50 was interesting and now......comes what I consider the big one (at least until the next decade passes).

0-14        I lived in a small town in Wisconsin
14-25      I lived with my mom and stepdad in Torrance, CA
25-31      I lived in Hermosa Beach with 3 psycho roommates at different times
31-33      I lived in what is called the LA City Strip (so named so they could call the harbor Los Angeles) and I got married.
34-35      I lived in San Pedro- we had one child
36-40      I lived in Lomita- we had 2 children by then
40-46      I lived in Lawndale, actually the County of Los Angeles, El Camino Village
46-54      I lived in Redondo Beach
54-58      I lived in Hawthorne in the Bodger Park area
58-?        Back to Lawndale. And the children still live at home.

Can I tell you I hate moving. With a white hot passion. More than you can believe.

Such a day. Going to the airport to recover my Mom from her flight from MSP.

Peace.

30 May, 2013

Ah the end of the month

This month has seen my mom go to MSP on Sun Country for a visit with my oh so perfect brother. She comes home on Saturday afternoon. Can't wait to see her.

We're making progress on the side yard. My tomato plants are growing. I've lost 2. I have 3 little roses growing. Hopefully they will be able to be transplanted next year to bigger pots. My herb gardens are doing well. Water works!

IN less than a month I turn 60. Hard to believe. Scary as shit to tell you the truth. I'm going back to Oakhurst with my husband. We're going to finally scatter his moms ashes up near Yosemite. She loved the park.

Why can I buy a water filter for my fridge cheaper on Amazon than going into Osh, Lowes or Home Depot? Amazing.

Not much else going on. I had a screw up with CVS who kept trying to put a Rx through my workers comp account and didn't notice that the med has been charged to my insurance for the last 6 months. Hello, check both accounts.

Hot flash city tonight.

Peace.

The first Garden post

A Single lonely tomato next to a flowering plant that will be repotted soon.

A 99¢ herb garden, more herbs that need to grow, and a 99¢ rose that I got for mother's day.

The inevitable topsy turvy planter. Has 6 different types of tomato. I'm hoping in August we'll be overloaded with different kinds of fruit. This is on an east facing wall that gets direct light till about 130 in the afternoon, and then indirect from the reflection off the white wall opposite.

My bonsai red maple. Just keep talking to it and telling it how much I love it.

I haven't forgotten you....

I've just had a myriad of things going on that keep my brain in limbo.

Once the brain reboots and can put together some cogent sentences I'll write a good update.

But for those wanting to know about the trainwreck there's this:

She got blasted in August  2012 and lost custody of her kids to foster care. They were living in a shelter at the time and she went nuts and CPS came and removed them from her care.
She tried to work the program to get them back but she's fighting demons that fought back and couldn't do what the court expected of her. One of the things that was mentioned repeatedly to her was her habit of serial men.
She was engaged to at least 3 different guys since August 2011.
She gave up on the kids (this makes 6 total she's surrendered her rights to) and they will be adopted in Jan '14.
She broke up with the latest guy and moved back to Mi from KY where she'd been for at least a year.
She couldn't figure out why the kids were dx'ed with problems relating to being picked up and packed up and moved x-country several times. One of the little guys had significant health problems that needed to be addressed. She says taking meds makes her crazy and she doesn't like the way they make her feel. So she's on whatever state medical aid KY has and general relief. Keeps boasting about studying this and that, but can't stick out a GED class. (Hell even my bipolar husband did that in 3 months and passed with flying colors).
She's supposedly back being a friend of Bill and working the steps.
She's given up on Mi and moved back to KY. She has 6 FB accounts and posts literally hundreds of self portraits of herself trying to be a "sexy mama". You might find her on Craigslist, I don't know. All I know is that she is a self absorbed narcissistic female who should not have been allowed to breed.
But that's the latest. Who knows? In 6 months she might be pg again and ready to ruin another child's life. This is the person who would be 5 days late for her period and when she got it, called it a miscarriage and posted death dates on her timeline.
I pray for the boys and hope that from here out their lives will be in a stable loving environment where they don't have to worry about sleeping on quilts on the floor, having their belongings in black trash bags, and a roulette wheel of mama's friends in the house.

Oh yeah. 4 Blackhawks in formation flew over the house today. I swear I didn't do anything to merit that. Honest. Really. Cross my heart.

Meds and hot flashes

I have had a significant amount of pain over the last few days, so I have been taking the heavy hitter pain meds.  I can about figure out when the hot flashes are going to hit. 2 hours after taking them, my forehead starts glistening and I'm looking for the fan. I'd open the window here in the bedroom but there is a Cinco de Mayo party going on next door and the older woman yells when she talks. I have my little circulating fan on and that seems to help.

Last night was the May the Fourth Be With You game night and it was also come up with drinks that match the theme. There was an interesting one called on the shores of lake Navoo (or however it's spelled) that was bright blue. Milk and Creme de Cacao and bourbon. There were 3 birthdays celebrated. One for the 5th, 6th, and 7th. It was pretty interesting and fun.

My dad's birthday is May 7th. If he were still on this earth he'd be 114. But he's in heaven drinking beer and sitting in an aluminum boat with a Johnson Motor on the back. Next year it will be 50 years that he will have been gone. Wow.

Some of my long time readers will remember the tale of the trainwreck and her 2 little boys. There is an update coming up. One that I could have predicted but didn't really expect. More on that. But the leopard doesn't change it's stripes and mean girls are mean girls. They may age chronologically but they are still air boxing at "the other bitches".

Time to catch up on my DVR===

Peace.
