By the way, I won't entertain anonymous comments. If I put it out there you can identify yourself, this isn't a democracy, it's my little world. Deal with it.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
As my children are adults and can play video games as much or as less as they want, I find them to be more able to discern good from evil as well as any.
Disrespect can also be learned from parents who think that every thing outside their walls will lead their children down the path of death and destruction.
 When a cycle of hopelessness and poverty isn't alleviated it is the responsibility of the social services and the state government to implement programs to remedy it. When a child is shot because of the colors she wore, that reasoning has to be stopped. Why do we pay taxes? To support wars in countries that don't want us. To feed the pockets of the oligarchs who run this country behind the scenes? It's been going on for 100's of years.
 I taught public school and I saw the children of immigrants work harder than their peers because they appreciated the fact that they were allowed to go to school and learn. Americans should pay attention to that.
If you don't trust your children, bully them and abuse them, you don't deserve them. If you teach your children to hate their siblings because they left the roost and found the truth, then you are as culpable as any abuser. When you get old and expect your children to wait upon you, you're going to be sadly surprised that they don't visit, keep their children from you, and hate you.
I just found out today the the father of one of my nieces abused her and her brother, sexually and held it over them. No wonder they can't trust their mother, who had 5 other children when they were nearly grown. May he rot in hell.
Can you tell I'm in a shitty mood? Well I am. My arthritis is making my hands cramp, my shoulder is screaming in pain.
I'm done and over. Timer's gone off and I'm ready to leave the burner.
That's all folks.
Somedays I can't bear to have the tv on
The last few days have been filled with children being killed by being shot, run over by ice cream trucks, car accidents after being hit by drunks. The shootings in Ottawa because someone thinks their God is better than anyone else's. Today a school shooting in Washington and now 2 Sheriff's are killed in northern CA.
Why don't people care about other people? Things like this almost make me give up on God, because why are these horrible things happening? Did the parents of these shooters and drivers raise their children to be murderers? Does their hate overcome our love for our neighbor?
I guess all I can do is pray without ceasing.
DRACHENFUTTER A Blogging for Books review.
This word is going to be stapled to my husband's head for the rest of his life.   8-)
The noun that means dragon fodder, a gift your husband gives his wife to make up for bad behavior.
This book was enchanting. Lots of words to peruse and some, like the above, to bring into our lives. Being of Dutch, German, Norse, Welsh, Scot, and English background there were lots of words to like.
Perhaps one day I can surprise one of my Filipino or Malaysian friends using one of my new found words.
If you need a book to just page through and put a smile on your face, then this is the book to do it.
Book Review: Girl at the End of the World - My Escape from Fundamentalism in Search of Faith with a Future
Book Title:
Girl at the End of the World - My Escape from Fundamentalism in Search of Faith with a Future
Author Name(s):
Elizabeth Esther
Category:
Religion - Faith
Additional Details:
Released: March 18th, 2014
Trade Paperback
224 Pages
$14.99 (USD)
I've followed Elizabeth Esther's blog for many years and have had some interactions on Twitter with her as well. I read the blog as she struggled with the book and how she sweat tears and blood writing about her life inside the cult. Coming to this story as a cradle Lutheran, I was amazed at the restrictions and rules she had to follow as a member of the cult.
She has emerged from the chrysalis as a butterfly who has found the sky to be enormous as the opportunity to chose how you fill your soul with the way you want to worship. Leaving a free form church to a liturgical one and finding her home there has made her a wholly new person.
She doesn't talk about her daughter's aspirations to be a ballet dancer and how their family raised the funds to send her to ABT's summer intensive and how she prayed that Jewel would succeed. Her tears when Jewel went to summer camp and had a wonderful time, so unlike the memories of EE's summer camp experiences.
I hope that in 5 years or so EE will write another book and talk about how her life is going, if she is still a Catholic and how her family has changed and adapted so far away from The Message.
Also, keep your Kleenex with you, there are parts that made me cry.
A Blogging for Books Review: Meat and Potatoes by Rahm Fama with Betty Dooley
Meat and Potatoes
Simple Recipes that Sizzle and Sear
Written by Rahm Fama
Contribution by Beth Dooley
I love to cook. I love to read books. Meat and Potatoes satisfied both for me. Written by Rahm Fama (who I was an early friend of on Facebook) and Beth Dooley, this book is a collection of satisfying recipes that most cooks can master.
The book is subtitled, Simple Recipes that Sizzle and Sear. They aren't kidding. Right off the bat Mr Fama says the 2 most important things you need to make good meat is a cast iron pan and a thermometer. I'll admit right off I don't have one, but I have a good grill pan that I use when the 2 grills outside aren't able to be used. I may have to get a cast iron pan.
He talks about how to find the best cuts of meat, and that if you make friends with the butcher in your grocery store you may do better than trying to decide by looking at cuts and cuts of meat in the aisles. If you have access to a butcher shop that you trust all the better.
In addition to the beef,pork, chicken and turkey, lamb,game, and one pot favorites; he also includes easy sides to compliment your protein. My family gets tired of the same old sides so there are some new ones that will grace their plates this fall. I'll admit I am one of those cooks who tweaks recipes so nothing is made the same the next time, but I will follow these like the letter of the law.
I'd buy this if I hadn't gotten it as a review book. It fits my cooking style and I love the incidental comments that Mr Fama inserts through the book. Buy it and get ready to cook a smart, sizzling dinner.
