Smoke in the Air

The air is filled with the smell of fire. The Getty Fire is about 15 miles north of us. This is closer than any of the fires last week, so it stands that the smoke will be heavier. I shut the doors and don't go outside unless I have to.

Surgery awaits in January. Got an approval from the insurance but it expires Christmas Eve. So the referral people at the medical group will need to work their magic. Won't be anything big or exciting, but it's necessary.

I'm going to try out my Instant Pot tomorrow. That's scary for me. But if it goes well, it will be a great dinner.

Time change this weekend. Need it. Pounding my head on a wall again.

More Alaska. More Rain.

 Was too cold to use the pool.

This is Seattle, before we left the dock. 

 This was part of a child's play area on deck 16 where the buffet was and if it was sunny and warm, would have been kids all over.

 Our patio, nice to sit on and watch the ocean...rather bumpy though on the open sea. Thank goodness for seasick meds and bracelets.

Made it through the cruise. From cold wet rainy to glorious Sunshine. Whales. Glaciers, Endless Forests, A true Bucket List.

The Norwegian Bliss

This is our bucket list cruise, doing it in memory of my mom.

Both children, a niece and the errant spouse and I.

Other than the girl child, none of us have ever been on a cruise.

I have trouble getting to Catalina.

Good food, good drinks, good laughs, and great memories to be made.

Twilight Zone "He's Alive".

This morning I watched an episode of the Twilight Zone, starring Dennis Hopper. It was called " He's Alive". It was scarily relevant to what happened this weekend. Watch it if you want. I thought it was interesting that it was screened today.
This is the closing narration from Rod Serling and it does ring true:

Where will he go next, this phantom from another time, this resurrected ghost of a previous nightmare – Chicago? Los Angeles? Miami, Florida? Vincennes, Indiana? Syracuse, New York? Anyplace, everyplace, where there's hate, where there's prejudice, where there's bigotry. He's alive. He's alive so long as these evils exist. Remember that when he comes to your town. Outside my window… 71º, partly cloudy and a slight breeze

I am thinking…  The landlord’s passive neglect is going to bite

From the learning rooms …  it takes a lot of work to clean up flooded rooms.

I can't believe . . . I actually made it to Wisconsin and did what I needed to do

From the kitchen . . . hash for dinner

I am wearing…    blue Henley tee shirt and Bermuda shorts

I am creating…  packing lists for September

I am going . .  . to pick up meds not covered by my insurance…grrrrr

I am reading …  “The Affair of the Poisons” about the court of Louis XIV

I am hoping…  to start to get things back to normal around the house

I am hearing…  all sorts of things

Around the house…  1 dog, 1 cat, 1 son, landlord and friend
