The Happiest Place on Earth and Edmund's Shuffling Along

First the shuffle, then the rant

    1. Sanctus, A Community Mass                           Richard Proulx
    2. Baby Be Mine                                                  Michael Jackson
    3. War Again                                                        Balkan Beat Brothers
    4. Still You Turn Me On                                      Emerson, Lake and Palmer
    5. Feel Like Making Love                                    Bad Company
    6. I Ain't Got You                                                The Yardbirds
    7. Curmudgeon                                                     Nirvana
    8. All Over Again                                                 B. B. King & Mark Knopfler
    9. Tube Snake Boogie                                          ZZ Top
    10. If I Had A Boat                                                Lyle Lovett & Jimmy Buffet

So. My.Rant.

Today we drove out to Downtown Disney, which is adjacent to Disneyland and California Adventure. My dear daughter is leaving tomorrow for a week in Chicago and she wanted to get some specific pins for her twinnie and family. We went to two different places to get them, both of them Disney Pin Trader areas. (At the last one, I would have sworn it was Ed Grimley waiting on us).

Since I didn't need to go wander through the many expensive stores selling needless items at grossly inflated prices, I watched people. A lot of people getting ready to go the Park in costume for the Halloween Haunt, of all ages. And then the stroller babies. I have a thing about babies, wee tiny babies who are dependent for all their needs from their parents going to amusement parks.

  1. The parents can't ride the good rides together.
  2. The babies don't care about Fantasyland, the princesses, the unique smell of Disneyland popcorn.
  3. The babies could care less about Small World and the boats.
I'm just a mean old lady but my kids were 5 & 7 when they crossed the gates of the magic kingdom. They could enjoy it, my daughter hated Captain Hook when she met him, but my son was enthralled. Now as adults they take advantage of their passes and go at least once a month.

Wait till your children can appreciate it. A 5 month old baby doesn't care.

Rant over.

Hives are really bad today.
Cards won the World Series.
Life is okay.

I shuffled up the coast and forgot Edmund, Here's the shuffle!

Yesterday wasn't a banner day. It was rather a down day. So I shined on the Shuffle.

Today I drove up the coast through Malibu to Camarillo and back. Spent some money on serving dishes and shoes and I'm happy.

Let's see what Edmund wants to play tonight? Shall we? We Shall:

  1. Que Me Quedes Tu                           Shakira

Rental Car

The other guys insurance came through and our car is in the shop. He gave me a reservation number at Enterprise and we went over there to get a car to drive. They want $$$ as a deposit. I looked at them and said what? If we were ordinary off the street city Residents we'd have to produce utility bills, wage statements and a 400$ deposit if we'd use a debit card. My son had enough to put a deposit down, so we rolled out with a Ford Focus. Nice car. An awful lot of hassle to confirm identity. My utility bills are online, basically every bill I have is online. What do you do then? This area isn't exactly upper class, but it's not the bottom of the barrel either.

I hope this weekend is low key and without any traumatic occurrences. It would be nice to have things be settled. I do have to go shopping and buy some things to send to my swap partner from my message board buddy. I know what I want to get, some relaxing fun things to pamper her self with. So I'll do that and enjoy it when she gets her package.

I got a letter from the insurance company that I have through the agency. They are going to stop being providers to our group. I wrote a letter to the overseers to find out where I send my paperwork for the change. I hope they answer in a timely manner. Like before open season is over.

Wednesday Whistling.....

Last night my son took my daughter to school and then went to KFC. Well he started to at least. He was in the turn lane with clear traffic, he started his turn, and someone making a left from the parking lot across the street made a left turn into him. He wasn't hurt, nor was his passenger (thank God, a Witness) but he was upset. So today, I was expected to do all the heavy lifting, contacting our lien holder, the other drivers insurance (he's claiming it wasn't his fault) and getting stuff written down. I need to get paid for shit like this.

It was overcast and cool again this morning. This is nice weather. I'd light a fire but someone used up all my big logs. Such is life.

So such are the ramblings of the bunny.

R.I.P. Duke

RIP Duke Anderson.
One of the nicest, sweetest Dogs I have ever known.
Big, funny, dopey and loving.

1998-2011

It's hot out today

The thermometer said it was 97 outside and it really was right. It was so hot and very low humidity. I don't like heat. I could never live in the desert. I need my marine layer and fog and cool temps. This should be our last gasp of summer.

I have been a little down this week. Just a wee bit. Nothing that can't be fixed but I am kind of blue.

I've been having some really strange dreams lately. And Air France has figured prominently. Why? I've never been on one of their flights. I used to talk to the Air France employees at the airport when I worked at T2. Their passengers not so much, I don't know what is about the French but they have their own way of doing things. Perhaps because I spoke a little of la langue and could tell the smokers where to go smoke, I had better encounters than others. I love France, la midi, la touraine, the city of lights, the west coast, it's a beautiful place. And I'd love to go back. I felt when I got to a certain place in the touraine that I had been there a long time previous but I'd had a good experience. Perhaps a former life? I don't know. *and to the guy that's been invading my dreams, it's been fun and we can run away together here, no?*

My shoulder is really bothering me. Usually it signals rain coming. I hope so. I don't want to take any meds, it's so hot that I'll sweat all over everything..
So I'm just ramblin on and on. Oh, I love Hugh Laurie's new CD. It's wonderful.

So have a nice end of the week.
Later gators.

I can't mediate this crap anymore

I am tired and sick of being in the middle. Of a never ending squabble. One that doesn't end well for anyone.
One child is resentful of the other. One child is doing things the other is jealous of. One child can't see the forest for the trees.
The tale is getting old. I can't do this but I have to.
Agoraphobia is looking better and better all the time.

08 October, 2011

A Saturday Shuffle, Edmund was off partying last night....

Yep free booze and free food. I hate conventions with a passion, but I'll go to the meet and greets especially if it's catered by Disney. Disney makes the best food. I skipped the booths and sales today, let the spousal unit go and get his fill. Got a free tee shirt out of it. So let's see what Edmund is loading up with to share with you, hmmmmmmmmm:

  1. Elgar: String Quartet in E Minor                            Elgar, A Celebration
  2. That's It, I Quit, I'm Moving On                            Adele
  3. Stay With Me                                                         Rod Stewart and the Small Faces
  4. The Loner/ Cinnamon Girl/Down By The River        Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young
  5. Long Cool Woman (In A Black Dress)                  The Hollies
  6. The Thrill is Gone                                                   B.B. King & Eric Clapton
  7. You Give Love A Bad Name                                 Bon Jovi
  8. Don't Look Back                                                     Boston
  9. Put Your Lights On                                                 Santana featuring Everlast
  10. Walkin' in Jerusalem                                                Ricky Skaggs
Not much going on at the ranch this weekend. One kid is at a Blink 182 concert and the other one is out with her friends. We lit a fire in the fireplace and it's cozy in here. The weather forecasters say it's going to be in the 90's midweek. Joy. I want cool and rainy.

Peace to all. A good week to you.

03 October, 2011

Rain? Rain? Come on rain, come on down!!

Yes, the forecast models say rain tomorrow and Wednesday. I'll have to go pick up a couple of bundles of wood to burn in the fireplace just to christen the new place. I also have to order a screen for the fireplace but I found lots of reasonable ones on Amazon so that I can do on Thursday or Friday.
I picked up hopefully my last Rx for the month. I can't figure out why he won't give the one for 90 days since all the rest are. But I'll use my last refill and hopefully common sense will rule.
I've been following the Conrad Murray trial and unlike other high profile trials this city has seen, this one seems to be run by a judge who brooks no nonsense. He runs his courtroom by the minute and he keeps the attorneys in line. I do feel some sympathy for the Jackson family who have sat in the courtroom and heard that their son and brother was dead for a long time before the paramedics got there and then was transported because Murray didn't want the death on his hands. It's really a fiasco.
So my cheeseburger pie is baking, people will be clamoring for food soon. When the rain comes I am going to bake cookies. I'm mentally ready for cold weather, long sleeves and sox.

Peace and out.

24 years ago today and these memories

  1. The Whittier Narrows earthquake at 7:42AM. Magnitude 5.9
  2. Kent Shockneck diving under the anchor desk during a significant aftershock
  3. Having my water broke soon after
  4. Encountering pain like I never had before
  5. No dilation
  6. No dropping into the canal
  7. A C-section
  8. 13:13 this little alien head popped out of my abdomen screaming and hollering.

Happy Birthday to my First Born.
May the Force Be With You.
